The 75th Berlin International Film Festival, known as the Berlinale, is set to take place from February 13 to 23, 2025, in Berlin, Germany.
This prestigious event will showcase a diverse array of films, with 19 competing for the coveted Golden Bear.
Notable entries include Richard Linklater’s “Blue Moon,” a biographical film about Broadway composer Lorenz Hart, and Kateryna Gornostai’s “Timestamp,” which explores life in Ukraine post-2022 invasion.
The festival will also feature Bong Joon-ho’s “Mickey 17,” starring Robert Pattinson, and James Mangold’s biopic of Bob Dylan.
Tricia Tuttle, the new artistic director, has curated a lineup that includes romantic stories, comedies, and narratives of hope.
Todd Haynes will chair the international jury, bringing his expertise to the selection process.
The opening film, “The Light” by Tom Tykwer, will be screened on February 13, 2025. Additionally, Tilda Swinton will receive an honorary Golden Bear for lifetime achievement.
The European Film Market, a significant industry event, will run from February 13 to 19, 2025. This year’s Berlinale promises to be a vibrant celebration of global cinema, attracting filmmakers, industry professionals, and cinephiles from around the world.
